Fox Lake is a little known, but beautiful kayaking spot accessible from the boat ramp at Fox Lake Park in Titusville Florida. Except for the park, the shoreline of Fox Lake is undeveloped and bordered along the western edge by the Fox Lake Sanctuary, a recent 2,800 acre purchase by the Brevard county Environmentally Endangered lands program (Should be opening to the public in Spring of 2013).
From the boat ramp, paddling north along the western edge takes you a small creek the extends a few hundred yards back into the wetlands, while paddling to the north east from the ramp around the point then north will take you to the mouth af a canal of about one mile in length leading to South Lake. South Lake is a larger lake than fox lake and can get choppy in windy conditions, but by following the western shoreline you will come to the mouth of a larger creek which will lead you about a mile or so to the west southwest and open into a pond within the Fox Lake Sanctuary.
While we don’t get the fall colors you get up north here along the Space Coast of East Central Florida, it’s still a great place to visit and or live here. This is the time of year when outdoor activities really begin to pick up here. The fall run of mullet is here in the […]
June 16th 2012. I started fly fishing at about the age of 13 with my grandfathers fly rod, mostly for bluegills and bass in the few freshwater ponds I found growing up near Satellite Beach Fl, and continued for a while after moving to Titusville, mostly at Fox Lake. My rod was a 5 wt. […]
Tuesday seemed like it was finally going to be a decent morning for photography, no wind, stars in the early morning sky and the eastern horizon was starting to glow. In fact I was already running a little late so I quickly drove to one of my locally favorite photography spots, Fox lake Park in […]
The grey clouds already evident approaching sunrise did not provide much hope for engaging in my favorite genre of photography, landscape and scenic photography, but my chosen destination for the morning, Fox Lake Park here in Titusville, Florida does offer a few other options. With a resident population of Limpkins probing the shorelines and a […]
Birds of the Blue Heron Water Reclamation Facility and Wetlands, Titusville, Florida, February 29th 2012; Im more of a landscape photographer than anything else, but occasionally I do like to photograph birds and other wildlife, and for this one of the top spots in the area is the Blue Heron Wetlands Facility, an artificial wetlands […]
Kayaking Eddy Creek, Canaveral National Seashore, Fl. September 22, 2011 It was just after dawn as I pushed my way kayak from the launch site and into the waters of Eddy Creek at Canaveral National Seashore. As I paddled the kayak gained speed and soon I was into a paddling rhythm. Schools of mullet swirled […]
Dicerandra Sanctuary Hike; Titusville, Florida, Date; 02/20/2012 The Dicerandra Sanctuary is a property purchased and maintained by the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered lands Program and lies within the city of Titusville. It is so named due to a plant that exists there and in the surrounding area, but is not known to exist anywhere else. […]
Well, I’ve done it, and have stepped into the Blogosphere. ( Is it supposed to feel all squishy?) Now what? And where is it? Wherever it is I’m in it and ready blog about Florida’s Space Coast, in my opinion one of the greatest outdoor playgrounds on the planet. This blog is designed as a companion site […]
